A COUPLE DAYS HAVE PASSED since the party, and Iâm sitting on my floor painting a t-shirt. When I got home from the party, including the morning after, I threw up several times. Madeline kept bringing me soup and water so I could rehydrate and made me stay off my phone. Iâm glad she did that though, because the minute I felt better I decided to check my texts and a bunch of people were asking if I was okay. I could only bring myself to respond to Tiana, Mai, and Sam. Speaking of Sam, he had stopped by a couple times the next day to see if I was feeling better. Madeline shooed him away mostly, but still, itâs the fact that he kept coming back that I appreciate.
Nobody ever figured out who gave Blake the bet. And Kaden never reached out to me either, but Diya did. According to her, everyoneâs on my side and not Blakeâs. Itâs not like I really care whose side people take, so long as they know I didnât do anything with a sober mind. My sisters said that I should report Blake for what he did, but I couldnât bring myself to do it. As much as I hated him, I didnât want him to get revenge on me or something if he were to find out that I reported him. I never reported Jordan all those years ago for that same reason; Iâll just have to live with this like I lived with that.
Diya said that she heard about the mixed drink, and she made sure to shut down any rumors about me. That was nice of her, but I wonder if sheâs only doing it to make up for not standing up for me before.
For the past couple of days, I just laid in bed and cried. I wanted to ignore everybody and everything. I felt like another part of me had been ripped out and torn to pieces, like how I felt years ago. Today was the first real day of me being productive.
I hold up the t-shirt and look at it. Itâs a broken skeleton with a bleeding heart in the center of it. It represents me, in a way. Broken to pieces and stabbed in the heart yet again. Iâm sorry, thatâs really depressing, isnât it? It does look pretty cool though.
I place the shirt under my fan to dry. Tomorrow is orientation day for incoming first-year students at my college and Iâm supposed to be one of the guides. During my first year I opted to do orientation online because Madeline told me that Kaden was one of the guides and I was afraid to see him. This year would technically be my first year experiencing orientation.
I get up to go wash my hands in the bathroom.
âHey.â Madeline says coming into my room. âTiana just dropped off your bag.â She holds up the black bag I took to the party.
âThanks.â I say, accepting it from her. I open the zipper and take out my jewelry.
